How to Live in God’s Will
How to Live in God’s Will
Rooted in Christ: Jesus for Young Adults – Card #7
Front of the Card:
Your thoughts become words.
Your words shape your actions.
Speak God’s Word out loud to align your life with His truth and activate His will over you.
Scripture:
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it.
For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
— Joshua 1:8 (NKJV)
Living in Alignment with God’s Word
The Word of God is our toolkit for life—our divine handbook filled with wisdom, guidance, and protection. It provides the spiritual guardrails that keep us on the path of righteousness. God, in His mercy and love, calls us into obedience not to restrict us, but to protect us.
Judgment is necessary for justice, yet through Jesus’ sacrifice at Calvary, we have received an eternal pardon. He bore the punishment we all deserve so that we could live freely within God’s will and grace.
Knowing God’s Word isn’t the same as living it. Transformation comes when we apply what we’ve read—when belief moves from head to heart to hands.
Meditate, Don’t Just Read
When Scripture tells us to meditate on God’s Word “day and night,” it’s inviting us to do more than skim the surface.
To meditate means to ponder, reflect, and chew on the truth until it transforms the way we think and act.
Living in God’s will starts with His Word—reading it, speaking it, and living it. When we speak God’s Word aloud, we agree with Heaven’s perspective. Our confession reshapes our reality because His truth replaces the lies we’ve believed about ourselves or our future.
Success in God’s eyes is not measured by wealth or fame, but by faithfulness and obedience. When we recite and apply His Word, we align our hearts with His divine purposes—and He blesses that alignment.
Joshua’s Example
Joshua followed in the footsteps of one of the greatest leaders in history—Moses. Yet, he was no slouch. His courage and success were not products of personality or power, but of his devotion to God’s Word.
Joshua’s strength and fortitude came from the Lord Almighty. The Word was his secret weapon—and it can be yours too.
When God promises that meditating on His Word leads to prosperity, He is saying that obedience to His truth brings His blessing. Think of it like an eternal IOU—backed by the ultimate Authority. God’s promises never expire, and His Word never fails.
The Role of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit helps us recall what we’ve read, convicts us when we drift, and empowers us to obey. Without His guidance, even good intentions fall short. As we spend time in Scripture, the Spirit turns information into revelation—transforming our mindset and maturing our faith.
When we combine the Word of God with the guidance of the Spirit of God, we begin to live in the will of God.
Discovering God’s Will for Your Life
If you’ve ever wondered, “How do I live in God’s will?” the answer begins with Scripture.
Start reading.
Start meditating.
Start listening.
As you immerse yourself in God’s Word, the Holy Spirit will illuminate your heart and reveal His will for your life—one step at a time.
When I first began reading Scripture daily, I noticed how my reactions changed—patience replaced frustration, and peace replaced anxiety. That’s how God’s Word rewires our hearts to reflect His will.
A Call to Know Jesus Personally
If you’ve never known Jesus intimately—or you’ve drifted from a close relationship with Him—today is the perfect time to come home.
Jesus isn’t a distant figure from history; He is alive, present, and longing for relationship with you.
All you have to do is open your heart and pray:
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God.
Thank You for dying for my sins and rising again so that I can have eternal life.
Forgive me, cleanse me, and make me new.
I invite You into my heart as Lord and Savior.
Teach me to walk in Your will and follow Your Word all the days of my life.
Amen
If you prayed this prayer, welcome to the family of God! Begin reading His Word daily and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you.
